Dear Central College family,
It’s only page two, but I’m guessing you may have noticed some changes to the magazine. I want to clear a few things up before we really get rolling.
We’re fortunate to have so many incredible stories to tell and updates to share that we simply never have enough room for them all. So, we’re flipping the script. Buckle up, Dutch — things are going to look a bit different from here on out.
First and foremost, we’ve rolled out a new name: Dutchology. We’re paying homage to our Dutch heritage while also celebrating what it means to be Forever Dutch®. And “ology” (as we all know, means a subject of study or a branch of knowledge) was all too fitting for an institution of higher education — especially one that’s home to people who love it so much it deserves to be studied.
Most importantly, we’re excited to bring you more Central in bite-size pieces. I can’t promise we’ll be able to tell every story ever, and let’s be honest, you’re not going to read that. I can promise, though, you’ll see familiar, beloved sections remain alongside many new sections — all to provide you with more of a peek into the good going on at Central and within the Central family.
With this change comes a new pattern in publication. The fall issue will remain printed with a second issue being delivered digitally in the summer each year. Please don’t hear — or I suppose read — that we don’t love a printed magazine. We do. We’re grateful we get to keep producing a magazine when so many institutions are being forced to cut theirs altogether due to budget constraints.
(That being said, you are always more than welcome to ensure this publication remains with a financial commitment or by advertising with us. Shameless plug, I know.)
It’s an honor to tell these stories. Thank you for trusting us with them and reading along with us year after year. Oh, and don’t forget to let us know if you have any updates or think someone would make a great profile.
Anyway, that’s enough from me. Back to the magazine!
Go Dutch!

I really like your new name and format. The sections all look inviting.
I actually prefer just getting the digital version of Dutchology.
If easy, please discontinue mailing me your magazine to save you some cost.
Thanks, Roger Leahy

I prefer to receive both a printed copy of the magazine as well as on-line digital. I would also like to contribute to the legacy of Central with my tales of the college. I am the class of ’69 with a plethora of experiences and stories from my years with my true alma mater. Covering the years 1964 through 1969. I am a published author and with a little bit of editing I can make my essays interesting and informative. I also wrote for the Central newspaper – The Ray (1967 – ’69 ) and you will also find several articles I wrote for Civitas. I don’t have many photos from those years. That’s something I truly regret. But a can describe the years of memories and deep fondness I hold for the college and the town of Pella. “Oh CUI, oh CUI, may your glory never die!”
